The EMMETT Technique

The Chameleon Approach to Body Therapy
The EMMETT Technique is a unique light touch
body therapy created by Ross Emmett. It is a
recognised technique that is taught in over 40
countries worldwide.

How does it work?

The EMMETT Technique is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissue of the body, and the therapist may help relieve tensions resulting in feelings of improved comfort within the body.

It may be enjoyed by people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. Many people find they feel more at ease within their body and they feel that their emotional well-being is enhanced.

Symptoms that may be assisted

The technique can be used on areas such as back, abdomen, hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, arm, hand and neck.

The relaxing nature of the technique results in people reporting typical responses such as: improved comfort and ease, more restful sleep, enhanced mood and a sense of lightness within their body.

What should you expect?

You may be asked some questions about your general health and the reason for your visit. Treatments may be done while you are fully clothed, although some garments may need to be removed or loosened. While individual experiences may vary, relief is often instantaneous.

About your Practitioner

Teresa is an Advanced EMMETT Practitioner. At this level practitioners are extensively trained in the principles and practise of the EMMETT technique. They are skilled to quickly assess what is most appropriate for each individual’s needs.

Can you use other therapies?

Yes. EMMETT Technique is a complete therapy but has the ability to work in combination to complement other treatments. The technique often allows other therapies to work more efficiently. Client comfort and accurate assessments are important elements of this therapy.
