Complementary Therapies
Sage Healing
Leeds ∙ Harrogate ∙ Oxford
My aim is to treat you holistically, effectively and efficiently.
In order to tailor the treatment that’s right for your needs, I use one or a combination of complementary therapies: Advanced EMMETT Technique, Holistic Aromatherapy & Massage, Clinical Aromatherapy, Clinical Reflexology, Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD), Restore Scar Therapy & ScarWork, Hypnotherapy, Reiki.
Body, Mind, Spirit – these treatments are beneficial for your health and wellbeing.
30 years experience of nursing and as a complementary practitioner in a variety of clinical settings, has given me the knowledge and intuition to use these therapies and techniques for your benefit.
All of these treatments aim to awaken the body’s own incredible natural defences and healing abilities. People often find that they have an affinity with one or two particular therapies, but can benefit from all at some time or another.
After a consultation we will discuss what treatment is best for you at that time. Some people are very clear what they’d like, what works for them and others prefer me to guide them. Either is fine.
I believe that regular treatments to relax, re-balance and nurture are essential for us to live as healthily and happily as possible. At times we may need more frequent support in order to cope with the greater stresses that life and ill-health can bring.
Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Massage, and Hypnotherapy can be used to support cancer patients, in line with the information published by Cancer Research UK Individual therapies

The aim of my practice is to help my clients to find ways of living as positively as possible, working effectively, attending to what is most important to them.
I’m inspired by the transformations I see in my clients each session; from their relaxed faces, easier, smoother movements and pain relief, to the things they achieve they thought they’d never do.
Complementary Therapies
EMMETT Technique
The EMMETT Technique is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissue of the body, and the therapist may help relieve tensions resulting in feelings of improved comfort within the body.
The technique can be used on areas such as back, abdomen, hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders,
arm, hand and neck. The relaxing nature of the technique results in people reporting typical responses such as: improved comfort and ease, more restful sleep, enhanced mood and a sense of lightness within their body.
Holistic Aromatherapy & Massage; Clinical Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils to help deal with everyday stresses and emotional well-being. Essential oils, extracted from plants, are thought to possess distinctive properties, which may be used to improve overall emotional and spiritual health imbuing the user with a sense of relaxation and calmness.
With massage, the intention is to relax the soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them, and help the body to relax.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body. Reflexology works on an individual basis and may alleviate and improve symptoms such as everyday stress and tension.
Reflexology can be a wonderfully relaxing experience enabling you to take time out from everyday pressures. The expert touch will help you relax which can help improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension, leading to an overall sense of wellbeing.

Reflexology Lymph Draining (RLD)
RLD is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating certain reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay, whilst working in Cancer Care. It is nurturing and relaxing. Clinical experience and further evidence from a growing body of case studies suggests RLD may be useful for clients with non-cancer related, auto-immune disorders. On the strength of the findings of RLD research projects and case studies, plans are already in place for further research.
Restore Scar Therapy
As your body heals after an injury, scar tissue then forms. Scar tissue is fibrotic and less mobile than pre-injury tissue. Adhesions may form that cause sticking together of the layers of tissue under the skin. RESTORE Scar Therapy utilises a method of non-invasive physical therapy which is specifically developed to treat scar tissue, fibrosis and adhesions. Using specialist scar massage fascial release, therapy tools and self-care advice, it can aid a healthy recovery and make you feel like you again. The RESTORE method has been developed by the UK’s leading scar tissue therapy teacher and Harley Street scar specialist, Emma Holly. RESTORE scar therapy is used within the NHS and leading private healthcare providers. A course of treatment is usually recommended but even a single session and self-care advice for you to follow at home can be very helpful.
Hypnotherapy
Reiki
“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’, a term used to describe a natural system to help bring about an improved sense of wellbeing and a positive feeling of spiritual renewal. This tradition was founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system and benefits may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm peaceful sense of wellbeing.
